As the daughter of an accomplished jazz singer & jazz bassist, Shawnee is following in
her parents footsteps by fulfilling her destiny as a rising vocal star. She began singing at
the age of three and pursued the study of musical fundamentals during her formative
years. In college, she sang with the Hampton University Gospel Choir where she was able
to discover another facet of her vocal capabilities, namely, a multi-octave crystal clear
voice which adds a special dimension to every song she performs. Shawnee credits such
musical influences as Chaka Kahn, Ella Fitzgerald, Donnie Hathaway & Stevie Wonder, for
her vocal maturity & youthful clarity. On the New York music scene, she has done studio work
with Ronald Burrell, Roland Clark, DJ Clark Kent, DJ Smash and of course, DJ Romain & Matt Keys.
Maintaining a soulful blend of jazz & r&b, her powerful and distinctive vocal style is certain to
excite club audiences everywhere and will undoubtedly attract the attention of commercial radio.
