Nelson "Paradise" Roman
Nelson "Paradise" Roman was born and raised in New York City. At the age of thirteen, his brother Victor, who Nelson dubbed "Paradise," exposed Nelson to club music. In the latter part of 1978, Nelson went to his first club, Reflections, where he met disc jockey Billy Carroll. Billy Carroll's mixing and format inspired him to pursue a career in the music industry. Conceived out of this experience, Nelson established a production company, Music Lovers Productions, which consisted of dancers and DJs. As a DJ, Nelson Roman worked independently, and also with several club promoters, namely; Wildpitch and Underground Network... Nelson has over fifteen years experience as a DJ in all the well known New York City clubs, such as: The Ones, Club Senzalas, Better Days, Tracks, Copacabana, 1018, The Tunnel, Mars, Palladium, Red Zone, Octagon, Choice, Sound Factory and Sound Factory Bar. And in New Jersey, he has experience at clubs such as Close Encounters, Club Zanzibar, Yakity Yaks, and Joey's. In New York and New Jersey, he has experience in dance studios as a DJ, specializing in hustle music and dance. Annually, Nelson deejays and assists in the promotion of Hustle USA, in dance studios throughout the United States, to promote hustle music and dance. Nelson "Paradise" Roman is one of the most respected Disc Jockeys in the New York area. His following reflects this. Already, a sought after mobile DJ throughout the boroughs of New York City, Nelson's popularity became even more apparent when he crossed over to a club DJ. As well as playing clubs, Nelson has also developed a skill for producing and remixing such records as Jay Williams - "Sweat," Soul II Soul - "Keep on Movin'" which in 1990 was awarded a Platinum Record, and had done production for several major and independent labels. He has produced a compilation album featuring various artists, "Paradise Presents Big Beat Revolution Volume 1." In mid 1987, Nelson collaborated with Craig Kallman to form Big Beat Records. Nelson then signed their first artist, Taravohnty, who brought us "Join Hands." He then became A&R director and in that capacity, he signed successful acts like Tara Kemp, Jomanda, Jay Williams, Robin S... In the Spring of 1991, Nelson joined Bottom Line Records as their in-house producer, and in February 1993, went on to become Bottom Line's director of A&R. In was here that he produced an album called "Sun Journey" with "Ed the Red" which included several various Jazz and underground records. Currently, Nelson is actively producing and mixing for various record labels, working as a DJ, and assisting in different promotional projects.
